Yzobela Hyett is a registered psychotherapist and a certified perinatal mental health care provider (Postpartum Support International). She works from a collaborative, trauma-aware stance, with her practice focusing on reproductive and perinatal mental health. Yzobela supports individuals with the sometimes overwhelming transition to parenthood, the mood and anxiety disorders that can accompany pregnancy and the postpartum period, birth trauma, fertility challenges, and pregnancy and infant loss. Throughout this work, her priority is to create a collaborative, compassionate, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your experience.

Your story is unique, and your individual needs and goals will shape the direction of therapy. Yzobela integrates different therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness and relational orientations to develop both deeper self-awareness and practical skills to support you on your path to wellness, peace, and confidence. Her worked is founded in the belief that our emotions are one of our greatest sources of wisdom, and using mindfulness, body-based exploration, and compassionate inquiry, we can learn how to engage this knowledge, without self-judgment or fear of overwhelm, to make meaning out of our experiences. Yzobela recognizes you as the expert on your life, and is honoured to facilitate your connection to your own innate ability to heal and grow.

Yzobela completed her Master of Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at the University of Toronto/OISE, and is a member in good standing of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She has over a decade of experience facilitating support groups for new parents and counselling women in the areas of reproductive and maternal health, sexual assault, and, in her prior role as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, breast- and chestfeeding support. Yzobela has completed a certification in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International, along with specialized training in CBT for insomnia, trauma therapy, perinatal grief and loss, and birth and breastfeeding trauma.

In her time off, Yzobela enjoys spending time with her three teenagers — when they allow it!
