  • Registered Psychologist in Supervised Practice

  • Offering Individual Therapy

  • In-Person and Virtual Sessions

Dr. Sofia Forman is a Registered Psychologist in Supervised Practice offering psychotherapy under the supervision of Dr. Jillian Satin. She is available both virtually and in-person (at The Well Parents Centre, 164 Eglinton Ave. East).

Dr. Forman is passionate about helping clients with challenges related to fertility, infant loss, alternative family structures, challenges specific to same-sex couples, and everything related to perinatal mental health. Her goal is to build therapeutic relationships that allow the client to feel safe, express their unique struggle, and explore perspectives to that struggle that might make life more manageable.

Dr. Forman obtained her Masters from Columbia University in 2015 and her PsyD from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She has been ordained in the Soto Zen tradition and enjoys facilitating meditation. Her doctoral dissertation focused on what Zen Hospice workers can teach psychologists. Sofia completed her clinical residency year at the University of Victoria as a counsellor working directly with students.

Dr. Forman strives to help people locate the connection between the internal experiences of the mind and the lived experience of the body.  She believes a body-based approach to psychotherapy is a great way to work with the fatigue and hopelessness of chronic pain, illness, work-related stress, relational strains, and ongoing anxiety.  Her therapy is psychodynamic, relational, insight-oriented, and incorporates cognitive-behavioural strategies.

She is a mother of a one-year-old.

Dr. Sofia offers treatment in-person and via video sessions. Her sessions may be covered as a psychological service through extended health benefits, as she is supervised by registered psychologist Dr. Jillian Satin.
