Depression Screening in pregnancy and postpartum
If you are concerned that you may have depression, there is a simple questionnaire you can complete.
The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EDPS) is the most thoroughly studied screening tool to identify depression in pregnancy as well as postpartum. You may have been asked to complete this by a healthcare provider before.
You can complete the EDPS questionnaire here.
Please note that the EDPS is a screening tool and does not provide a definitive diagnosis of depression. It also does not examine anxiety, which can be a significant problem for parents and expecting parents.
If you are concerned, please discuss your mood and/or anxiety with a health care provider (For example, your OB, midwife, GP, pediatrician, psychologist). Please feel free to contact us at The Well Parents Centre if you have questions.
